Hope & Andy’s Wedding at the Nira House | Playful Love in the Blue Ridge Wind

Some people get married with all the serious, somber energy of a cathedral.

Hope and Andy? They got married with side-eyes, snort-laughs, and so much joy you could feel it in your chest.

Their wedding at the Nira House in Floyd, Virginia was chilly, windy, and absolutely perfect. The kind of day where your veil tries to fly off mid-photo, your hair does whatever it wants, and no one cares; because you’re too busy living the moment. Because your beauty is exuding with sheer unadulterated, radiant JOY. Evident in every moment, every frame.

They met in the middle of military life, which tells you right away: they’ve been through it. Long distances. Tight schedules. Big feelings. And still, the way Andy looked at Hope? Like he’d choose her in every timeline. And the way Hope lit up the moment she saw him? Like she already knew.

The Nira House was the perfect kind of haunted; not scary, just full of stories. Decades worth of love, hope, and most importantly, life itself. Wooden floors, creaky stairs, rooms that feel like they remember things. It gave their wedding an old-world kind of charm that felt lived-in, not staged. And honestly? That’s them. They’re the kind of couple who laughs first, kisses second, and never takes themselves too seriously; even when the wind tries to rip their ceremony arch out of the ground.

Their friends were loud, chaotic in the best way, and completely obsessed with the two of them. There was liquor. There was cheering. There were inside jokes we didn’t understand and didn’t need to. That kind of energy doesn’t have to be translated; it’s felt, real and alive in in every moment that you spend there.

But in between all the mischief and movement, there were so many soft moments too. The way Andy gently adjusted Hope’s jacket when the wind got sharp. The way she leaned into his side without thinking. Those quiet seconds you don’t pose or plan; they just happen. And those are the ones we chase.

Jay and I shot the whole day like we were part of it; because in truth, we are - the storytellers observing from within the story itself, documenting each memory with passion! Dodging gusts, chasing the light, laughing with them. It didn’t feel like work. It never does, on a Wedding Day. It felt like being invited into something you’ll talk about for years. That’s the kind of love Hope and Andy radiate - they put you at ease, welcome you in. And that is what we captured that cold, April day.

As the sky turned gold and the air bit down hard, they danced like no one was chilly. And honestly? I don’t think they were. Because when you’re in love like that; deep, silly, all-in love … it warms you from the inside out.

This was above all, a wedding for the soul. Intimate. Real, and just plain magical.

What an honor to capture it moment by moment.
